Talk your boss into budget sign off

So you’ve seen the programme for this year’s Fundraising Convention and you really want to attend. But there’s the pesky matter of how you’ll persuade your boss to sign off the budget. Pro tip: focus on how it will help you meet your objectives – I’ll even do the hard work for you!

Using social media to drive income

Many charities are using social channels well in other contexts - community management, information dissemination, curating content, to name a few - but income generation has proven a harder nut to crack for many. Gain inspiration from the sector and beyond

Identify new opportunities for testing

If you don’t have this exact line in your objectives, do you really work in fundraising? In a practical and insightful session, Dave Pearce from Dignity in Dying will help you think about your approach to identifying and testing new tools and trends. If you want to be more innovative but are overwhelmed or it feels too risky, this will be a really useful session to help you build an approach to horizon scanning and deciding when to jump on an idea.

 

Break down organisational silos

Increasingly we are seeing organisations restructuring to bring fundraising closer to other divisions. There has been an explosion in “engagement” appearing in fundraising job roles. We have a session that showcases just how valuable a more holistic approach can be, and argues that merging digital engagement, fundraising and community building could transform the sector. The case studies are persuasive, to say the least, including Bernie Sanders’ former Digital Director, Kenneth Pennington, sharing how the 2016 election campaign raised over $230m. This one is not to be missed.
