This is the story of Movember, a phenomenon that went viral and grew to raise $750 million globally over ten years, without actually asking for money, and to be a movement of 5 million participants. It started as a bright idea, a lifestyle brand, a fun event for men, definitely not a ‘charity’. And then it peaked and income fell. Movember now has a focused cause and mission as an activist funder, and is credited with advancing prostate cancer research 50 years in just five. It has the ambition to stop men dying too young and a new appreciation for fundraising.
