Samir has over 15 years experience as a senior fundraiser and manager in the cultural and education sectors. He is currently Festival Director at the London Handel Festival. Previously he was Director of Development at the Royal College of Music, where he managed a team of twelve with an annual income target of £3m. He has also held fundraising positions at Shakespeare's Globe, English National Opera, the Royal Academy of Arts and BookTrust. He has knowledge of a wide range of fundraising activities including membership, trusts and foundations, legacies, major gifts, mid-level giving, sponsorship, capital campaigns and special events.

He is a passionate advocate for the important role of fundraising in our society, and is particularly keen to promote cross-sector learning and sharing of good practice. He is a mentor and regular speaker for CASE and the Institute of Fundraising. He chaired the IoF Cultural Sector Conference in 2014 and 2016 and is chair of the professional development sub-committee of the IoF's Cultural Sector Network.

Outside of work, he is busy singing, mainly with Pegasus, the London chamber choir he co-founded, and is a trustee of the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company
